Are the Pages and Numbers apps that I originally bought on iTunes for iPad for $9.99 each transferrable to or able to run on 2011 MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.5? The mac app store wants $19.99 each to download. I thought the new operating system was supposed to run the iPhone and iPad apps. My Mac shows the apps in iCloud drive but only opens them in preview. Any way to run these without paying twice for the same app, also curious what apps other people are using in place of these. I use them mostly for basic lists or to open word/excel docs. Thanks.
Every Mac has a keyboard and pointing device attached, and doesn’t have a touchscreen. IOS apps running in a macOS context will need to accept mouse clicks in lieu of touches. The keyboard goes.
- The only way you can run iOS apps on OS X is if you have the iPhone Simulator and have a version of the app specifically compiled to run on the simulator. The iPhone Simulator (available from Xcode) is not an emulator and can't run ARM code, which means that it has to run a specific version of iOS 7 designed for OS X, and is not able to run iOS.
- Officially, the operating system that was available on that Mac at the time that you bought it is the oldest version of macOS that can run on that Mac. It's likely that an older OS won't include.

IOS and macOS support most of the same frameworks and features, and most iOS apps run smoothly on macOS.
- To answer the simplest part of the question 'How can I run iOS apps on my MacBook?' , well you can't in the conventional sense of clicking on the app in the Applications Directory, it doesn't work that way.
